NZ 1:10k Tile Index
The NZ 1:10k Tile Index dataset provides a 1:10,000 scale index for aerial imagery and LiDAR datasets.
This tile index is part of a collection of indexes which are referenced to the [NZ 1:50k Tile Index](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/104687) dataset.
Like the NZ 1:50k Tile Index, these larger scale indexes support mapping of NZ mainland and coastal areas up to 50m in depth.
The dataset includes the following attributes:
**index_tile_id**: Unique identifier for the NZ 1:10k Tile Index table. **sheet_code_id**: The corresponding sheet code of the NZ 1:50k Tile Index. **scale**: The map scale of the index tiles. **tile**: The combination of the row and column numbers of the index tiles.
Aerial imagery and LiDAR datasets available on the LINZ Data Service may be produced as a result of different aerial flights spanning different regions, flown over multiple years, and at different resolutions and scales. As a result, each dataset may require scale appropriate index tile boundaries which best suit the data being published. The NZ 1:5k Tile Index data described here provides a consistent 1:5000 scale index to be used across multiple datasets to support mapping of NZ mainland and coastal areas.
The NZ 1:10k Tile Index, along with the 1:500, 1:1k, 1:2k, and 1:5k datasets, consist of sub-tiles derived from the base NZ 1:50k Tile Index.
The [NZ 1:50k Tile Index](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/104687) itself is only partially related to the [NZ LINZ Map Sheets (Topo, 1:50k)] https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/50295 in that it does not contain overlapping tiles and includes additional tiles in coastal areas. However, both of these use the same tile naming convention.
