Orthophotography over the Hawke's Bay Region taken in the flying seasons (summer periods) 2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. The area of capture covers the Hawke's Bay Region situated on the east coast of the North Island, totalling approximately 18,224 km2.
Imagery was captured for Hawke's Bay Local Authority Shared Services (HBLASS) by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany,0632, New Zealand.
Data comprises: •2188 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:5,000 tile layout •Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.
The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the supplied tile layout shape file for specific details, naming conventions, etc.
Imagery supplied as 30cm pixel resolution (0.30 m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±0.5 m @ 90% confidence level.
Data Acquisition The aerial photography for this project was captured within the 2018-2019 flying season (30 January 2019 – 7 March 2019) and extended to end of April 2019 and further extended to 16 May 2019 and then again to 25 January 2020 and then again to 16 December 2020.
Camera and Flying Height For this project two cameras were used as follows: Photography captured using Vexcel's digital UCE camera fitted with the 100mm lens and flown at an altitude of approximately 18,928 ft (5,769 m) with the lowest ground GSD set at 0.3m. Photography captured using Vexcel's digital UCE camera fitted with the 80mm lens and flown at an altitude of approximately 16,580 ft (5,053 m) with the lowest ground GSD set at 0.3m.
Capture Dates The aerial imagery was captured on the following dates: 30 January 2019, 5 February 2019, 5-7 March 2019, 20 April 2019, 25 January 2020, 12 - 20 November 2020, 16 December 2020.
Sun Angle Imagery captured with a minimum sun angle of 40 degrees. Towards the end of the season the sun angle was lowered to a minimum of 35 degrees and further lowered to a minimum of 30 degrees over a defined area. The sun angle of the imagery used for the orthorectification ranged from 30.3 to 67.2 degrees. The imagery captured on 14 May 2019 was rejected by Council due to the low sun angle and was reflown on 25 January 2020 with replacement tiles supplied.
Flight Planning The Flight Survey Number for this project is SN14019 Hawke's Bay Rural comprising 82 runs and 4,487 frames. A final total of 5348 frames were captured for this project. All imagery captured in Stereo: Forward overlap 60%, min 54%. Side overlap 35%, min 15%. During the 2020/2021 season 796 frames were captured including reflys.
Environmental Specification Imagery captured with no cloud or cloud shadow within the area of interest. Harbour, coastal and tidal areas captured within 1.5 hours either side of low tide. Ngaruroro, Tukituki and Wairoa Rivers captured with specified flow rates. A coastal strip north of Waipatiki Beach was captured in the final season within the tidal requirement.
