The final spatial accuracy is ±0.2m @ 90% confidence level.
Project AAM was engaged by Kapiti Coast District Council to capture aerial photography for the urban area of the Kapiti Coast, totalling approximately 232 km2. The area of capture is located within the Wellington Region of the North Island.
Data Aquisition Aerial photography was acquired from a fixed wing aircraft using a VisionMap A3 camera system on the 14th January 2021 between 13:30 - 16:00. Data was captured with the lowest ground GSD set at 0.075 m. GPS base station support was sourced from GeoNet CORS operating in and around the Wellington Region. Ground control points were field surveyed by WSP.
Image Processing Block adjustment and orthorectification of the A3 imagery was carried out within the VisionMap A3 software.
Other Capture Criteria Imagery was captured with a minimum sun angle of 45 degrees and within 3 hours of low tide.
Accuracy Imagery in this volume has been compared to control points obtained by field survey, using RTK GPS system, and assumed to be error-free. The test points were distributed across the area. The positional accuracy for this dataset is +/-0.2 m, with a 90% confidence in clear, open areas. The definition of the ground under trees may be less accurate.
