Project
AAM was engaged by South Wairarapa District Council to capture aerial photography for the urban areas of South Wairarapa, totalling approximately 66 km2.
Data Aquisition
Aerial photography was acquired from a fixed wing aircraft on:
Date Time range
5 January 2021 - 10:35 to 13:01
14 January 2021 - 11:21 to 12:27
25 January 2021 - 10:18 to 13:25
Resolution 0.075m
GPS base station support was sourced from GeoNet CORS operating in and around the Wellington Region. New and existing ground control were used in the creation of the imagery. New ground control points were surveyed by WSP and existing ground control were surveyed by Sounds Surveying.
Image Processing Workflow
- Flight planning
- Aerial image acquisition
- Imagery download and inspection
- Combine and index imagery with post-processed GPS
- Aerial triangulation and adjustment to ground control
- Editing Client's DTM and auto-correlated new DTM
- Orthophoto creation
- Image tiling
- Colour profiling
- Quality assurance
Block adjustment and orthorectification of the A3 imagery was carried out within the VisionMap A3 software.
Other Capture Criteria
Imagery was captured with a minimum sun angle of 45 degrees and within 3 hours of low tide.
Accuracy
Imagery in this volume has been compared to control points obtained by field survey and assumed to be error-free. The test points were distributed across the area. The positional accuracy for this dataset is +/-0.2 m, with a 90% confidence in clear, open areas. The definition of the ground under trees may be less accurate.
