Bay of Plenty 0.1m Urban Aerial Photos (2020)
Orthophotography captured over three urban areas in the Bay of Plenty region totalling approximately 414km2. The areas of capture cover Tauranga City, and Ōmokoroa and McLarens Falls in the Western Bay of Plenty District.
Imagery was captured for BOPLASS Ltd by AAM NZ Limited, 6 Ossian St, Napier, New Zealand.
Data comprises:
• 4791 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:500 tile layout.
• Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.
The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the tile index layer for specific details, naming conventions, etc.
Imagery supplied as 10cm pixel resolution (0.1m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±0.3m at 90% confidence level.

Project:
AAM NZ Limited was engaged by BOPLASS Ltd to undertake acquisition and processing of aerial imagery over areas in the Bay of Plenty Region. This layer contains the 10cm GSD data over Tauranga, Ōmokoroa and McLarens Falls.
Acquisition:
Acquisition of imagery occurred on 16 December 2020 from 11:43am to 12:06pm, and from 1:25pm to 3:27pm, using a Visionmap A3 Edge sensor from fixed wing aircraft.
Ground Support:
GNSS base station support was sourced from GeoNET CORS. Existing ground control from the 2018-2019 BOPLASS project was used with airborne GPS data to assist in control for the imagery and validate the final orthophotos. No flights exceeded 6 hours, therefore the GNSS data has not been included. All base stations used were existing LINZ geodetic marks that are part of the GeoNET CORS system.
Data Processing:
The RGB orthophotos are supplied at 10cm gsd. The imagery was georeferenced with airborne reference data and surveyed ground control, using aero-triangulation. Ortho-rectification utilised a combination of the existing 2018-19 LiDAR digital terrain model and auto-correlated surface model. Seamlines were automatically generated, reviewed, and manually edited where required.
