This Imagery was commissioned by LINZ on behalf of GNS science, Environment Canterbury Regional Council, Marlborough District Council, Kaikoura District Council and Hurunui District Council for earthquake recovery purposes. It was captured by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany,0632, New Zealand.
The area of capture is located in the Marlborough and Canterbury Regions of the South Island totalling approximately 10,466 km2.
Data Comprises:
• 1648 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:5,000 tile layout
•Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.
The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the supplied tile layout shape file for specific details, naming conventions, etc.
Imagery supplied as 30cm pixel resolution (0.3m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±2 m (@ 95% confidence).
Data Acquisition
The aerial photography for this project was captured within the 2016/17 flying season (September 2016 – April 2017) on the following dates:
20 December 2016 – 24 February 2017.
Camera
All photography was captured using Vexcel's digital UCE camera and flown at: 0.30 m GSD: 18,933 ft (5,770 m) flying height

Minimum of +35 degrees

SN13870 Kaikoura Earthquake Area: 34 runs, 3,331 frames
Stereo capture: Forward overlap 60%, min 54%. Side overlap 30%, min 15%
Environmental Specification
Imagery captured with no cloud or cloud shadow within the area of interest. Tidal areas to be
captured within two hours either side of low tide if possible, imagery capture to take priority over
tidal restrictions.
Ground Control
A combination of new/existing control and LINZ benchmarks were used for aerial triangulation for
this project.
