Orthophotography in the Marlborough District taken in the flying seasons (summer period) 2017-2018.
Imagery was captured for Marlborough District Council by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany,0632, New Zealand.
Data comprises:
•3,037 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:500 tile layout
•Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.
The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the supplied tile layout shape file for specific details, naming conventions, etc.
Imagery supplied as 10cm pixel resolution (0.10m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±0.15 m @ 68% confidence level.

Project
Aerial photography was captured over the Marlborough urban areas in the Marlborough District
totalling approximately 142 km2. The area of capture is located in the Marlborough Region of the
South Island.
Data Acquisition
The aerial photography for this project was captured within the 2017/18 flying season (September
2017 – April 2018) on the following dates: 1-2 December 2017, 15 December 2017 and 20 December 2017.
Camera: All photography was captured using Vexcel's digital UCE camera and flown at:
0.1 m GSD: 6,309 ft (1,923 m) flying height
Camera Lens: 100 mm
Sun Angle: Minimum of +35 degrees
Flight Planning: SN13944 Marlborough Urban: 54 runs, 891 frames
Stereo capture: Forward overlap 60%, min 54%. Side overlap 35%, min 15%.
Environmental Specification: Imagery captured with no cloud or cloud shadow within the area of interest. Tidal restriction for coastal areas captured within 2 hours either side of low tide and priority tidal areas within 1.5 hours either side of high side.
Urban Building Displacement Specification: Urban 0.1 m GSD imagery – using the UCE camera and by flying with 60% forward overlap and with 35% sidelap (standard stereo coverage), maximum 1.1 m building lean per 3 m height within the
image model area. To minimise building lean an additional run of 4-5 frames was added to the flight
plan along the main street of Blenheim where there is a presence of tall buildings.
Ground Control: A combination of new/existing control and LINZ benchmarks were used for aerial triangulation for this project Twenty-five new post-mark points were obtained by Vince Belgrave of Sounds Surveying.
Data Processing: All aspects of the data processing from imagery processing to DTM creation and ortho production and product deliverables was undertaken in-house by Aerial Surveys staff.
Map Projection
All spatial data for this project provided in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 map
projection (NZTM2000). The datum is New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000). The height
datum is orthometric New Zealand Vertical Datum 2016 (NZVD2016).
