The NZ Imagery Survey Index dataset provides an index to all orthophoto index tiles found on the LINZ Data Service. Each record in the dataset provides both a geometry of the maximum extent of the orthophoto index, as well as all attributes found in each index tile. This dataset therefore provides information to assess orthophoto coverage and metadata across the entire country.

Orthophotography within the Canterbury Region taken in October and November 2020. Coverage is of the Canterbury Region covering the Selwyn and Waimakariri Districts, and Christchurch City including Banks Peninsula.

Imagery was captured for Environment Canterbury by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany, 0632, New Zealand.

Data comprises:
• 681 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:5,000 tile layout
• Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.

The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the tile index layer for specific details, naming conventions, etc.

Imagery supplied as 30cm pixel resolution (0.30 m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±0.6m at 68% confidence level in clear flat areas.

This pilot dataset provides more comprehensive national address data for New Zealand, incorporating previously missing addresses to our official address data.

NZ Addresses (Pilot) comprises both AIMS addresses and allocated addresses identified as missing from AIMS gathered from Territorial Authorities.

To improve ease of use, this dataset also includes:

Please note: we are still working through a process of identifying missing addresses. NZ Addresses (Pilot) will continue to be populated with missing addresses as they are verified.

AIMS address set and the simplified version NZ Street Address will continue to be updated by LINZ as normal as advice is received from Territorial Authorities.


About the pilot
The Toitū Te Whenua LINZ Addresssing Team developed routines and procedures to validate address sets sourced from Territorial Authorities against the AIMS address set.

NZ Addresses (Pilot) is for test purposes only. The pilot dataset is not intended to be used in place of the AIMS suite of published addresses (such as NZ Street Address).

The pilot will run for six months, until December 2021. Next steps will be informed by feedback received during the pilot.

Please refer to the Street Address Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about the AIMS fields in this dataset.

NOTE: there are a few differences between the existing AIMS dataset and this dataset.

  • New addresses identified are named ‘CADS’ (Comprehensive Addresses Data Store) addresses.

  • Some new fields include source_dataset (the source of the record, e.g. CADS or AIMS), and address_lifecycle.

  • Field address_id is the unique identifier for an address in either AIMS or CADS addresses.

  • Field change_id is the unique identifier for the address version in either AIMS or CADS addresses.

  • Field address_class is same as address_type and includes throughfare and water.

  • Field road_section_id is not included in this dataset.

This layer provides the extents of the data incorporated into an adjustment which has been completed as a Wide Area Cadastral Adjustment (WACA). These adjustments are undertaken in areas where there is already substantial survey-accurate data, but there are some inconsistencies in the data resulting from small changes to geodetic control coordinates and/or the progressive submission of additional Cadastral Survey Datasets (CSDs). The improvement of coordinates is controlled by a mathematical adjustment process using a Least Squares methodology. The adjustment/integration process results in increased mapping accuracy of surrounding spatial objects (e.g. parcels), the effect of which is some new observations or parcels appear to move. The extent of the change largely depends upon the accuracy of the underlying data. In general, movements will be no more than 10cm, as the WACAs target areas where coordinates already have fairly high spatial accuracy.

This layer provides the extents of the data incorporated into an adjustment which has been completed as part of the Spatial Parcel Improvement (SPI) project. The SPI project aims to improve the accuracy of digital cadastral data in areas (primarily rural) where survey-accurate data does not currently exist. The improvement of coordinates is controlled by a mathematical adjustment process using a Least Squares methodology. The adjustment/integration process results in increased mapping accuracy of surrounding spatial objects (e.g. parcels), the effect of which is some new observations or parcels appear to move. The extent of the change largely depends upon the accuracy of the underlying data. In general, movements will be at least several metres, as the SPI project targets areas where significant movements are expected.

This layer provides all authoritative arc survey observations and is targeted at cadastral surveyors.

Only observations that have been captured in Landonline are available. This includes vectors that were re-captured in the Survey Capture Areas from survey plans lodged prior to Landonline and all survey observations since.

Individual cadastral surveys will commonly re-measure or re-use cadastral lines. Often they will be the same, however as the accuracy capability has increased over time, differences between 'old' and 'new' observations are more likely. Thus all survey observations include the reference to the Survey Plan.

This layer provides the extents of influence that the work to integrate survey information has on the surrounding Cadastre.

All cadastral surveys must be integrated into the Cadastre. As part of this process the new information 'upgrades' the existing information. This is controlled by a mathematical adjustment process using a Least Squares methodology.

The adjustment/Integration process results in increased mapping accuracy of surrounding spatial objects (e.g. parcels), the effect of which is some new observations or parcels appear to move. The extend of the change largely depends upon the size of the new survey, the difference in accuracy between new and old data and the number of linkages to other Surveys.

In general, where the underlying surveys are older or in a rural location the greater the extent of the adjustment.

This layer provides survey mark information for marks that are not part of a parcel

A non-boundary mark is any survey mark that is not on a boundary point. The points in this dataset represent physical survey monuments usually placed for cadastral requirements. The data set also includes geodetic marks. Non-boundary marks now enter the Landonline system predominately as part of a cadastral survey dataset (plan) and occasionally via the geodetic processes. For Cadastral marks (i.e.the majority) its name consists of a mark type and number (and is unique to that survey), followed by the ‘plan’ number e.g. IS I DP 3456; IS II DP3456.

Note:
Non-boundary marks used to connect cadastral surveys to the geodetic network are those of 6th order (or better) and this subset is available as the NZ Cadastral Survey Network Marks layer.

This dataset extends the Landonline stored data by including the network accuracy which is based upon its assigned Landonline order - refer LINZS25006 (www.linz.govt.nz/about-linz/news-publications-and-...).

The accuracy provided relates to the accuracy of coordinates of the mark and has little relevance to the accuracy of the boundary in relation to other boundaries. For example, if the coordinates of the mark were used to locate it, a user would expect to find the existing mark within the accuracy (distance) stated.
