This Imagery was commissioned by LINZ on behalf of GNS science, Environment Canterbury Regional Council, Marlborough District Council, Kaikoura District Council and Hurunui District Council for earthquake recovery purposes. It was captured by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany,0632, New Zealand.

The area of capture is located in the Marlborough and Canterbury Regions of the South Island totalling approximately 10,466 km2.

Data Comprises:
• 1648 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:5,000 tile layout
•Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.

The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection. Please refer to the supplied tile layout for specific details, naming conventions, etc.

Imagery supplied as 30cm pixel resolution (0.3m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±2 m (@ 95% confidence).

Index tiles for this dataset are available as layer Kaikoura 0.30m Rural Aerial Photos Index Tiles (2016-2017).

This layer contains the DSM for LiDAR data from the Kaikoura area captured in 2012.
The DEM is available as layer Canterbury - Kaikoura Lidar 1m DEM (2012).
The index tiles are available as layer Canterbury - Kaikoura Lidar Index Tiles (2012).
The LAS point cloud and vendor project reports are available from OpenTopography.

Lidar was captured for Environment Canterbury Regional Council by Aerial Surveys in 2012. Note that this capture was prior to the significant vertical and horizontal displacements from the 2016 Kaikoura earthquakes. The datasets were generated by Aerial Surveys and their subcontractors. The survey area includes the Kaikoura township area and adjacent coastal strips. Data management and distribution is by Land Information New Zealand.

Data comprises:
•DEM: tif or asc files in NZTM2000 projection, tiled into a 1:1,000 tile layout
•DSM: tif or asc files in NZTM2000 projection, tiled into a 1:1,000 tile layout
•Point cloud: las files in NZTM2000 projection, tiled into a 1:1,000 tile layout

Data was collected at >1 pulse/square metre pulse density. Attributes include:
-Elevation
-Intensity values
-Return number
-Adjusted GPS time
-Classification

Vertical accuracy specification is +/-0.2m (@ 95% confidence)
Vertical datum is NZVD2016
