Orthophotography within the Southland Region captured in February to March 2022. Coverage encompasses Invercargill urban areas in the Southland and Invercargill City Districts.

Imagery was captured for Invercargill City Council by Aerial Surveys Ltd, Unit A1, 8 Saturn Place, Albany 0632, New Zealand.

Data comprises:
• 911 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZTM projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:500 tile layout
• Tile layout in NZTM projection containing relevant information.

The supplied imagery is in terms of New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) map projection.

Imagery supplied as 5cm pixel resolution (0.05m GSD), 3-band (RGB) uncompressed GeoTIFF. The final spatial accuracy is ±0.15 at 95 confidence level in clear flat areas.

LiDAR was captured for Environment Southland by ASL Ltd on 3 September 2021. The dataset was generated by ASL and their subcontractors. Data management and distribution is by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand.

Data comprises:

  • DEM: tif or asc tiles in NZTM2000 projection, tiledinto a 1:1,000 tile layout

  • DSM: tif or asc tiles in NZTM2000 projection, tiled into a 1:1,000 tile layout

Satellite Imagery of some of Aotearoa New Zealand's nearshore islands which do not have aerial imagery coverage. The imagery was captured between 2010 and 2021 and encompasses Manawatāwhi / Three Kings Islands, Poor Knights Islands, Hen and Chickens Islands, Karewa Island, Taumaihi Island, Motunau / Plate Island, Motuhaku Island / Schooner Rocks, Solander Island / Hautere, Little Solander Island, Rarotoka Island, Escape Reefs, Dog Island and Ruapuke Island and its surrounding islands.

Imagery was captured for Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand by Maxar, Inc.

Data comprises:
• 78 ortho-rectified RGB GeoTIFF images in NZGD2000 / New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 projection, tiled into the LINZ Standard 1:5000 tile layout

The Dunedin-Bluff 1960 to NZVD2016 Conversion Raster provides users with a two arc-minute (approximately 3.6 kilometres) raster image of the conversion of normal-orthometric heights from the Dunedin-Bluff 1960 local vertical datum to the New Zealand Vertical Datum 2016 (NZVD2016).

The conversion value is represented by the attribute “O”, in metres.
This conversion and NZVD2016 are formally defined in the LINZ standard LINZS25009.

The height conversion grid models the difference between the Dunedin-Bluff 1960 vertical datum and NZVD2016 using the LINZ GPS-levelling marks. From the GPS-levelling marks the expected accuracy is better than 2 centimetres (95% Confidence interval).

More information on converting heights between vertical datums can be found on the LINZ website.
