Please read: The AIMS: Address Position table is part of the set of comprehensive AIMS Address tables.

The Address Position table contains the point location of an address. An address can have multiple point positions. The Addresspositiontype describes the position E.g. centroid, set back from road. In the first instance the Landonline address position will be used the positioning of this is 'unknown'. Additional Address Position data may be captured over time.

The comprehensive address dataset includes eight data tables and nine lookup tables. The dataset has been sourced from LINZ’s Address Information Management System (AIMS), a centralised database for the management of national addresses, including for electoral purposes. This set of normalised tables replaces the single Landonline: Street Address layer currently published on LDS.

This layer contains information advised to LINZ by Territorial Authorities (TAs). Under the Local Government Act 1974 (section 319) it is the responsibility of the TAs to advise LINZ (the Surveyor General) of all allocated addresses in their district.

For a simplified version of the data contained within these tables see NZ Street Address.

Please refer to the Street Address Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about this layer.

This dataset was last updated on LINZ Data Service on 01 Jul 2017.

As of June 2017, this dataset has been replaced by NZ Roads Subsections (Addressing) and will no longer be updated. See NZ Roads Data Dictionary for field mappings to the new dataset.

This layer provides a feature representing Electoral road subsection (e.g. a city block) to which associated data such electoral addresses can be attached.

In Landonline a road name is commonly assigned to multiple stretches of roading such as between intersections with other roads. For this layer each of these individual road sections have their own geometry (as opposed to the Road Centre Line Layer where they have been aggregated).

A road may also have more than one road name, some road centreline geometries will duplicate other roads subsections even though there is in reality only one road formation. In addition, a road name is also commonly duplicated across the country e.g. "Queen Street", "High street" etc

The source Landonline data exists in order to provide linear geometries against which official road names and street addresses can be recorded. Its purpose is also to enable automated meshblock address reports (for electoral and statistical purposes) so as to identify the presence of a road name in meshblocks where street addresses do not exist.

The road centrelines recorded in Landonline do not represent actual road formation, nor do they represent legal access. They must not be considered as topographic, cadastral, or legal.

As a general rule those that are not within a Road Parcels Layer should be treated as being of highly variable accuracy. They do however meet the purposes for which they have been captured, and can provide a valuable resource for other purposes provided that the user(s) understand their origin and consequential limitations.

Warning: The purpose of the location field is to enable differentiation between roads of the same name in the dataset. It should not be considered official nor part of a valid postal address. It can however be used as an indicative guide to location within a Territorial Authority, or in the case of regional road networks, as an indicative guide to location within New Zealand.

Please read: This layer is part of the comprehensive Full Landonline Dataset and is designed for use only by data professionals who require the complex version of our property ownership and boundary data for advanced uses. For a simplified version of data contained within this table see the road datasets in the Electoral Group.

This layer contains road and railway centrelines held within Landonline for electoral purposes. These centrelines are required to indicate the presence of an authoritative road or railway name. Named centrelines are not intended to represent the exact location of a road or railway formation. Named centrelines do not indicate the presence of legal access.

Please refer to the LDS Full Landonline Data Dictionary and Models for detailed metadata about this table.
