The NZ Aerial Imagery Set combines the latest aerial imagery for New Zealand available on the LINZ Data Service.

How to use this dataset
Use this dataset to view the coverage of recent orthophotos available from LDS, then visit our Aerial Photos category to find and download the individual datasets you’re interested in.

Details about the capture date and extent of our individual imagery datasets can be found in the NZ Imagery Survey Index.

A list of attribution requirements for each layer is available at Attributing Aerial Imagery data.

NEW LINZ Aerial Imagery Basemap
Try the new LINZ Basemap service for a free to use Aerial Imagery basemap of the New Zealand mainland and offshore islands.

Powered by data from the LINZ Data Service and other authoritative open data sources, the LINZ Aerial Imagery Basemap delivers the latest imagery data direct from the Cloud for quality and performance. Access WMTS or XYZ tile APIs for use in GIS, web and mobile apps.

NZ Parcel Boundaries Wireframe provides a map of land, road and other parcel boundaries, and is especially useful for displaying property boundaries.

This map service is for visualisation purposes only and is not intended for download. You can download the full parcels data from the NZ Parcels dataset.

This map service provides a dark outline and transparent fill, making it perfect for overlaying on our basemaps or any map service you choose.

Data for this map service is sourced from the NZ Parcels dataset which is updated weekly with authoritative data direct from LINZ’s Survey and Title system. Refer to the NZ Parcel layer for detailed metadata.

To simplify the visualisation of this data, the map service filters the data from the NZ Parcels layer to display parcels with a status of 'current' only.

This map service has been designed to be integrated into GIS, web and mobile applications via LINZ’s WMTS and XYZ tile services. View the Services tab to access these services.

See the LINZ website for service specifications and help using WMTS and XYZ tile services and more information about this service.

Please read: This comprehensive address dataset provides all allocated addresses as advised to LINZ by Territorial Authorities (TAs). Under the Local Government Act 1974 (section 319) it is the responsibility of the TAs to advise LINZ (the Surveyor General) of all allocated addresses in their district.*

Local Government Act 1974

319B Allocation of property numbers

(1) For electoral, postal, and other purposes the council may allocate a number to any area of land or building or part of a building within its district and may change the number allocated to any such area of land or building.

(2) The council shall comply with any request from a Chief Surveyor to allocate a number to or change the number of any area of land or building or part of a building in its district.

(3) The principal administrative officer shall advise the Chief Surveyor of the land district in which the land or building is situated of the numbers allocated under subsection (1) or subsection (2).

This comprehensive address dataset includes eight data tables and nine lookup tables. The dataset has been sourced from LINZ’s Address Information Management System (AIMS), a centralised database for the management of national addresses, including for electoral purposes. This set of normalised tables replaces the single Landonline: Street Address layer currently published on LDS.

The existing address and road datasets will be available for 6 months after AIMS go-live to allow users further time to transition. This version will be replacing Landonline: Street Address dataset.

For a simplified version of the data contained within these tables see NZ Street Address.

Please refer to the Street Address Data Dictionary for detailed metadata and information about this layer.

This dataset is a collection of individual hydrographic charts for New Zealand's North Island region, and has been designed to provide a quick way to group, view and/or download charts within this region.

Note: This set contains charts at a variety of scales. Use of LDS web map tile services for this set is not recommended as the scaled charts overlap.

All charts are available for individual download through the LINZ Data Service, and will be updated as new data becomes available.

These charts are based on the official Raster Navigational Chart series produced by the New Zealand Hydrographic Authority, available on the LINZ website.

THIS DATA DOES NOT REPLACE NAUTICAL CHARTS AND MUST NOT BE USED FOR NAVIGATION.

The online New Zealand Chart Catalogue provides more detailed and the most up to date information about New Zealand charts: New Zealand Chart Catalogue.
