Koordinates Privacy Policy

In this policy we explain how we handle your personal information. Terms used in the Koordinates Terms of Use have the same meaning in this statement. This privacy policy and its interpretation and operation are governed by New Zealand law.

The information we collect

When you register for a Koordinates ID, we'll ask you for some identifying information, such as your name and email address. You may also provide us with personal information in the course of using our services. When you're logged in, our systems will also generate information about your use of our services.

If you purchase a service from us using a credit or debit card, you will be required to provide your credit or debit card details. We store some of these details (your address, partial card number, expiry date and name) and our credit card processor stores your full credit or debit card number. Our credit card processor is Stripe. You can find their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

Other than credit card details, we are the entity that will hold your personal information. We take good care of it and have systems and processes in place to protect it.

If you don't wish to provide the information we request, we may not be able to provide you with the services you're after.

Why we collect and store your personal information

We collect and retain the personal information outlined above to enable us to identify you, to provide our services to you, to provide you with support and to communicate with you in relation to your use of Koordinates.

Disclosure

We strictly control the disclosure of your personal information. Disclosures are as follows:

Otherwise we do not disclose your personal information unless we need to do so to protect our or third party rights or we have to by law.

Commercial communications

If you’re a registered user, we may send messages to you in relation to our current or future products and services and your use of them. We may do so by email (including via a third party service) or by using any internal messaging system we may implement. By signing up to our Terms of Use when registering for a Koordinates ID, you consent to our sending such messages to you.

Our commercial messages to you will contain unsubscribe information so you can opt out of further receipt.

Communications from Koordinates Site holders

If you register as a user of a Koordinates Site or are already a registered user and interact with a Koordinates Site (e.g., by downloading data from it), you will be added to the Koordinates Site holder's mailing list. The Koordinates Site holder is responsible for maintaining that list. Our Terms of Use require Koordinates Site holders to comply with applicable privacy and anti-spam laws.

Other information and cookies

We may collect statistical information about visits to Koordinates to help us analyse usage of Koordinates and to help Koordinates Site holders understand the usage of their data. If you're not a Registered User, we will not collect personal information and the statistical information will not identify you. Once you become a Registered User, this information will be associated with your Koordinates ID. We may use cookies or other similar technology for this purpose as well as other purposes relating to our operation and the security of Koordinates. By using Koordinates, you agree to our use of cookies and such other technology. You can remove or block cookies (by using settings in your browser) but doing so may affect your ability to use Koordinates.

Access and correction

If you’re a registered user, you can change certain personal information by logging in with your Koordinates ID and clicking on the "Preferences" link. Under New Zealand law, you also have the right to access and to request correction of any of your personal information that we hold. To exercise this right, or to ask us anything else in relation to this policy, please email privacy@koordinates.com.
